Tom Coughlin, PhD is the owner and founder of The Merchant Way. He’s an engineer by training raised in the garden state, New Jersey. With his uncles owning businesses in Long Island, he grew up hearing the challenges small business owners face over family holiday dinners and barbecues.

Once you've set up your account, you can take advantage of the simple integration options for popular shopping carts and even add a Buy Now option. Transaction fee:

  • The card your customer uses for their purchase (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) doesn't affect your per transaction rate. The transaction fee you'll pay determined by:

    • Whether most of your payments come from other businesses or from consumers

    • Whether the customer’s card is physically present

    • Your total dollar amount card transactions each month

  • Your rate will be adjusted automatically for the month as your sales increase and you meet the requirements for a lower rate.

  • We never charge application fees or early termination fees, and there are no monthly minimums.

The following tables show the rates for business to consumer (B2C) and business to business (B2B) rates. Refer to these based on your primary customer base to determine what your transaction costs will be.

Business to Consumer (B2C) transaction fees

B2C merchants include retailers, restaurants healthcare providers, and any other business accepting payments primarily from the final consumer.

The cost per transaction is determined by the total dollar amount of card purchases processed monthly.

$15,000 - $39,999.99 / 3.20% + $0.15

$40,000 & up / 3.10% + $0.15

 

Business to Business (B2C) transaction fees

B2B merchants include suppliers (industrial, medical/dental, etc.), distributors,  and any other business accepting payments primarily from other businesses.

The cost per transaction is determined by the total dollar amount of card purchases processed monthly.
